I have talked with thousands of children and young adolescents about their friendships, school experiences, and worries, and I still hear something new almost every day.  But in kids' stories I also hear much that is similar.  Many challenges that kids face are developmental.  Predictable.  Temporary.  Common.  And solvable.

We have an abundance of valuable psychological research about childhood, but many parents and teachers don't have time to access it, even as we are bombarded with worst-case scenarios in both the popular and social media about the problems children experience. 

 

In my professional development workshops for educators, parent presentations, and individual coaching with parents, I distill the psychological research in a way that is accessible and offer parents and teachers fresh perspectives on common challenges in childhood and early adolescence.
